The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) authorized Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on Tuesday.
His clearance put an end to the rumors about his academic credentials.
There have been suggestions that the IEBC will not clear the young lawmaker amid allegations that he has phony academic documents.
Sakaja, on the other hand, presented an IEBC clearance certificate issued by a Ugandan university.
Sakaja earned a Bachelor of Science in Management degree in 2016, according to the certificate (External).
Sakaja’s degree was also verified as valid by the Commission for University Education (CUE), according to a letter.
“I officially certify that Team University is a recognized Ugandan institution.” While recognizing Sakaja’s degree, the Commission for University Education stated, “The qualification given by the aforementioned institution is likewise accepted in Uganda mad by convention in Kenya.”
He disputed a letter circulating online last week suggesting that he did not graduate from the University of Nairobi as propaganda spread by his rivals.
“Do I appear to be someone who has not attended school?” Ignore the propaganda that is being circulated. “I have more academic degrees than they require,” the congressman stated.
