With barely 61 days till the General Elections, Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party and William Ruto of the Kenya Kwanza alliance appear to be framing their struggle.
According to recent polls, the ODM leader’s popularity has increased since naming Martha Karua as his presidential running mate in 2022, particularly in the vote-rich region of Mt Kenya.
On the other hand, William Ruto’s popularity may have dipped as a result of his choice of Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate. The impact of presidential running mates may be observed in the results of a recent poll done by Statistics Kenya between May 10th and May 31st, in which Raila has surpassed Ruto as the most popular presidential contender.
According to polls, the former Prime Minister will comfortably defeat the presidential candidate of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in round one.
According to the poll, Azimio la Umoja, the presidential candidate of the One Kenya Coalition, has 55.4 percent of the vote, while his opponent, William Ruto, has 37.1 percent.
With this percentage, Raila, who is running for president for the sixth time, will surpass the constitutional threshold of 50% plus one percent.
Furthermore, both males and females over the age of 35 prefer the Raila-Karua ticket over the Ruto-Rigathi ticket, according to the findings.
While Raila Odinga’s popularity has grown in the Mt Kenya region throughout the course of the survey, William Ruto’s support has decreased by 1.9 percent.
