Kim Kardashian has defended her decision to reduce 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into her Met Gala gown last year.

In an interview with the New York Times, the reality star compared herself to Hollywood actors Christian Bale and Renee Zellweger.

Kim, who is 41 years old, stated:

“I didn’t do anything that was harmful to my health.”

“I was like, ‘OK, Christian Bale can do that for a movie role,’ and that was fine with me.” Renee Zellweger, too, put on weight for a job. To me, it’s all the same.

“I wasn’t saying, ‘Hey everyone, why don’t you go lose weight quickly?'”

Throughout his career, Christian, 48, has been known to gain and lose a significant amount of weight for film parts. Most notably, after gaining weight for American Psycho, he lost more than 50 pounds in four months for his role in The Machinist in 2005. While preparing for the film, the actor says he lived on a diet of black coffee, one apple, and one can of tuna each day. He was ingesting less than 200 calories per day at the time.

Renee, 53, on the other hand, acquired 30 pounds to play Bridget Jones in the 2001 romantic comedy Bridget Jones’ Diary.
