Wangui Ngirici, a woman representative in Kirinyaga County, has announced her intention to withdraw from the Kirinyaga gubernatorial campaign ahead of the August 9th poll.
On Wednesday, there were reports that Ngirici, who is running for governor on an independent ticket, had chosen to withdraw her candidacy after realizing she would lose to incumbent governor Anne Waiguru.
However, in a statement released on Thursday, Ngirici denied the allegations and stated that she will not back down or accept anything less.
She stated that she is fully in the fight to achieve Waiguru’s return to her remote Murang’a County home.
“‘We will not back down, we will not waver, and we will not give up.’ Kirinyaga needs to grin once more. Ngirici stated, “Smairo Ni Tiki, Mûtumia Wa Wîra Kirinyaga Kwanza (KK) Kirinyaga Governor 2022.”
Ngirici, who is a billionaire in status, is giving Waiguru a run for her money since she has a cult-like following in Kirinyaga County.
