Following the death of Mzee Mgala Mvurya Wanini, Deputy President William Ruto issued a message of condolence and encouragement to the family of Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya.
Mzee Mvurya, 88, died on Wednesday at Mavirivirini village in Kinango sub-county, according to the County Director of Communication, Daniel Nyasi.
On Thursday, DP Ruto announced his death on Twitter, saying that the deceased would be remembered for his leadership and knowledge.
“During this sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with Governor Mvurya’s family. Mzee, may the Lord give you eternal rest “DP Ruto penned the piece.
“We have lost a grandfather, a father, and an elder: a wise man, a counselor, and a leader.”
According to Islamic tradition, Mzee Mvurya will be laid to rest on Thursday afternoon.
