President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for a concerted effort to save Kenyan families in order to safeguard Kenya’s children.
Mr. Kenyatta expressed concern about the changing face of the Kenyan family, saying that it poses a danger to traditional values and the family.

“The changing face of the Kenyan family is reflected in the 2019 national census, which shows that single-parent families increased from 25.1 percent in 2009 to 38.2 percent in 2019,” he stated.

“If left unchecked, this trend would obliterate Kenya’s essential character and cause incalculable harm to our society’s most vulnerable and valuable members: our children.”

In his 59th Madaraka Day State Address, the Head of State urged the media, the church, and community elders to take a leadership role.

“I implore our media houses, religious leaders, community elders, and concerned government agencies to take up and ensure that the Kenyan Family continues to be the robust and respected institution that it has always been.”
