Prof James Ole Kiyiapi, a former presidential candidate, has issued a warning to Wafula Chebukati, the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), after he prevented Muranga Governor Mwangi Wa Iria from running for president in August.
Mwangi Wa Iria was disqualified by the commission on Monday, based on allegations that he provided forged signatures.
Mwangi objected, claiming that his signatures were real.
In response to Mwangi’s disqualification, Kiyiapi stated Kenyans should not assume Mwangi Wa Iria is enraged simply because the IEBC barred him from running in the presidential election on August 9.
He also encouraged the IEBC to pay special attention to Mwangi Wa Iria since he is highlighting significant and basic issues that need to be addressed immediately rather than later.
“We may believe he’s simply a lunatic because he’s been disqualified, but Mwangi Wa Iria presented important issues that the IEBC Kenya should and must address now.” Kiyiapi wrote, “Not later.”
