After the UDA Vice-Chairman defected to Raila Odinga’s Azimio, the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has prophesied death for Deputy President William Ruto.
Kipruto Arap Kirwa resigned as Vice-Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance yesterday and joined the Azimio coalition, where he was welcomed by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua in Bungoma County.
Kirwa’s departure, according to Atwoli, is only the beginning, and Kenyans should keep an eye on the political dynamics in the coming months.
“Watch political dynamism in two months,” the COTU SG remarked, adding that “Kipruto Arap Kirwa is only the beginning.”
Kirwa claimed he had to retreat and reflect when the party named Rigathi Gachagua as the Kenya Kwanza running partner while announcing his defection from Ruto’s camp.
That, according to Kirwa, was the clearest indicator that the party lacked democracy.
He stated that he could no longer be a member of a team where he knew democracy would be suffocated.
“I, Kipruto Arap Kirwa, have resigned as vice chairman of UDA as of today (Sunday),” he said during the Azimio rally in Bungoma County.
