Senator Moses Wetangula of Bungoma has stated why he is fighting for his seat despite Deputy President William Ruto promising him the Speakership and 30% of the government if he wins the president in August.

Wetangula told the press yesterday that he was not seeking personal glory after being approved by the IEBC to defend his seat.

The Bungoma senator predicted that the ANC and Ford Kenya will receive six of the 22 ministerial positions.

“I’m not seeking personal riches, adulation, or fame.” He remarked, “Zile 30% tumegawana kwa serikali ya Kenya Kwanza, wale mawaziri chama chetu kitapata out of 22 ministers, ANC na Ford Kenya tuko na mawaziri sita.”

Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi were given a 30% share in William Ruto’s government under the Kenya Kwanza coalition agreement.

Wetangula was also given the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.

To obtain all of that, they’ll need to deliver 70% of Western Kenya votes to Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza in the August poll.
