Three boys are nursing serious leg burns after a pastor burnt their legs for allegedly stealing rock cakes worth Ksh. 80 in Kabarnet, Baringo County.

The minors, two of whom are in secondary and one in primary school, are receiving treatment at the Baringo County Referral Hospital.

In the Tuesday night incident, Pastor Rashid Nduma of Deliverance Church is said to have caught one of the kids stealing his cakes at a bakery within Kaptimbor shopping centre.

With the help of two other workers at the bakery, they began burning the boy’s feet using the bakery oven.

The boy was forced to reveal his two friends whom he said had been sharing the cakes.

The preacher with his gang rushed to the homes of the exposed friends to wake them up and whisked them away to the bakery where they burned their legs.

It took the intervention of the locals who were woken by their piercing wails of the boys.

Police arrested two people, among them the pastor, and booked them at Kabarnet police station, where two more culprits managed to escape and are being pursued.

The two are expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
