Raila Odinga’s running mate, NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua, has been chastised by Kandara MP Alice Wahome.
Wahome stated the region has already opted to back Deputy President William Ruto for the president, speaking in Nyeri County during the burial of Rigathi Gachagua’s brother.
She described Karua’s appointment as a trap to entice women to Raila Odinga’s camp, which she claims would not happen.
“We, Kenyan women, want full representation in government.” We will not be swayed by a single position. We want the 50% that Ruto has pledged.”
“We have seen Azimio’s running companion and we want to stress that even if we give Raila Gachagua as our running mate, the Mt Kenya region will not believe him,” Wahome said.
On Sunday, Gachagua was named as Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate, while Raila’s running mate was announced on Monday.
The selections have been interpreted as a ploy to entice the Mt Kenya region to support both parties.
