After agreeing on former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Martha Karua as his running mate, tormented Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has cautioned Azimio presidential contender Raila Odinga.
Kindiki, who was passed over for the running mate position, promised Raila that Martha Karua would not assist him stem the tide of Deputy President William Ruto in Mt. Kenya during an interview yesterday.
He added that changing the political dynamics of the Mt Kenya region in favor of ODM leader Raila Odinga will be extremely challenging for NARC Kenya’s leader.
According to Kindiki, Karua cannot change because the UDA party and the Kenya Kwanza wave are too powerful in the central region.
“I don’t think Martha Karua will be able to stem the tide against UDA and Kenya Kwanza, even in Kirinyaga.” Kenya Kwanza will overwhelm her. He declared, “It’s too strong.”
Because the August elections will be about matters of national importance, the Senator believes that using tribes to marshal votes will fail.
Though Kindiki praised Karua’s appointment, he believes the Azimio coalition is doomed.
“For the first time, ethnicity has been demolished as an organizing factor in our politics,” he said. “Those who believe Karua can shift the flow anywhere because she speaks a certain language are wasting their time.”
